Text Messaging Downfall of Cheating Spouses

December 17, 2009

New statistics published today by a UK-dating site show that those who cheat online are less likely to get caught than those who do so offline. The research was conducted by  Illicit Encounters, a dating website for married people.

The statistics show that less than 10% of the site’s membership have been caught during their time on IllicitEncounters. Of those who have been, over 65% said that an incriminating text message or phone call played a part in their undoing. Many members stated that the security provided by the site played an important part in their decision to join.

Speaking to the website, legal expert Vanessa Lloyd Platt, founder of Lloyd Platt & Co., described a huge increase in the use of text messages as evidence to prosecute in divorce cases. “There has been a massive rise in the number of affairs ‘outed’ by text messaging.” Vanessa commented. “The electronic age has been one long field-day for lawyers.” “It is a criminal offence to break into someone’s email account. There has been a lot of publicity around this recently – which may explain why emails are less commonly used to prosecute in these cases. However, if a husband or wife leaves their phone lying around, they can get caught out very quickly.”

Spokesperson for  Illicit Encounters Sara Hartley commented, “Browsers give us so many ways to control information about our activities. IllicitEncounters is a difficult site to penetrate if you’re looking for someone specific – many members protect their photos with passwords. Our members don’t want to ‘rock the boat’ – many are pursuing an affair as a way of supporting their marriage, not destroying it.”

Illicit Encounters has over 390,000 members in the UK, and will be awarding its 400,000th member with free lifetime membership in the coming weeks.

Tiger Tips a Trend : Golfers Are Biggest Cheaters

December 5, 2009

It’s official. New research shows that men and women who enjoy golf are more likely to cheat on their partners than fans of other sports.  The news comes after recent speculation that pro-golfer Tiger Woods is cheating on wife Erin Nordgren with party hostess Rachel Uchitel.

The study was conducted by Illicit Encounters, an extra-marital dating site based in the UK, which claims over 55% of its 380,000 members are golf fans.  The website creates a platform for married people to pursue affairs.

Spokesperson for the site Sara Hartley comments, “Golf is a sport often played by high-fliers, and we have already seen that go-getting ABC1 individuals are those most likely to cheat.  It’s all about achievement; these people are relentless when it comes to getting what they want – the best car, the perfect home.  But many don’t stop at material possesions.  When faced with an imperfect relationship, it is these individuals who will be most likely to pursue something extra.”

“Opportunism plays a part too.  If the rumours about Woods’ affair are true, he couldn’t have picked a better sport.  Golfing weekends and long afternoons on range provide a perfect alibi for an affair.”

Wives take note; when your spouse takes off on a quest for the perfect hole-in-one,  make sure he’s not scoring  it with someone else.

Hundreds of Bankers Confess Reasons for Cheating

December 4, 2009

An extra-marital dating site in the UK has compiled a Top Ten of the main reasons bankers choose to have extra-marital affairs.

Illicit Encounters, which has over 380,000 members UK-wide, surveyed over 600 men and women to compile the list.

Following the collapse of the markets in October last year, the site saw a huge increase in the numbers of financial workers signing up. Since October 2008, ‘Finance’ has continued to be one of the most represented professional areas on the site.

The Top Ten was created by analysing the responses of 639 bankers, who were asked the question, “What were the three main reasons you decided to pursue an extra-marital relationship?”. The 10 most common themes are illustrated below.

1st
To Feel Loved – Bankers have become Public Enemy No. 1 since the credit crunch hit, so are seeking out some overdue affection

“My husband cares for me but he doesn’t touch or cuddle me anymore. My lover simply make me feel loved” – Member 3*2672
